This I Believe

On a good day, I don’t believe anything.  On a good day, I’m one with the way the universe works.  On a good day, I know what to do, and I do it without hesitation.  On a good day, there is no right or wrong, fair or unfair, good or bad, just or unjust.  On a good day, I do not impede the flow of the river.

On a not good day, I believe all sorts of things.  On a not good day, I believe that I’m all alone, and I must control everything.  On a not good day, I make lists, and plans, and double check everything.  On a not good day, everything is right or wrong, fair or unfair, good or bad, just or unjust.  On a not good day, I can’t even see the river.  On a not good day, I do not hear the universe standing outside my window calling me to play.

The difference between a good day and a not good day is simply the difference in where I choose to place my focus.  When I place it all in this moment, the day is good.  When I place my focus on what I believe, and evaluate all things from that position, the day is not good.

It takes commitment and effort to stay in the moment but the payoff is huge.

Have a good day.

Amazing what level of irrationality that can be attained on a bad day!

  4. Just got through six “not good days” in a row. Chose for today to be a “good day”! Thanks for defining it for me, Bert!
